The original Brothers Colombo S.r.l. began as producers of photolithography in 1972.
In 2004, to be more competitive in the market, the company added an editorial graphic studio. Subsequently two separate companies were created: Digital Project, S.r.l. and Graphic Project, S.r.l., integrating the activities of Colombo Brothers, S.r.l. and specializing in offset and digital printing.
Finally in 2008, by merging the two companies, Graphic & Digital Project S.r.l. was created. Thanks to the two combined components, the company can manage all stages of publication, from the delivery of original material (text and images), to printing. Bruno Bani is the commercial and technical director of Graphic & Digital Project S.r.l.
The constant presence of the Colombo brothers today ensures the commitment and seriousness that has always distinguished the company from the beginning.
Originally, Fratelli Colombo S.r.l. wanted to specialize in producing exhibition catalogues, books, and monographs on ancient, modern, and contemporary art. In these areas the three combined companies have become extremely competitive for the accuracy of their work with written texts, the attention to graphics, the quality of reproduction, the time of delivery, and the listed price.
As publishers their largest customers have been Skira, Electa Mondadori, Edizioni Gabriele Mazzotta, Bruno Mondadori, Umberto Allemandi & C., as well as numerous private galleries. In addition, in the area of advertising, they have recently collaborated with the Armando Testa group, and participated in campaigns for Missoni, Iceberg, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Graphic & Digital Project, S.r.l. has among its chief objectives to work closely with authors, curators, and artists, so that each volume satisfies the requirements of the customer, in terms of graphics, and the processing of text and images. For color control, at the request of the customer, the staff of Graphic & Digital Project S.r.l. can provide press proofs before and after printing to insure the highest fidelity in reproduction.
Graphic & Digital Project S.r.l. is equipped for both indoor (ambient environment, works of art) and outdoor photography.
The Editorial Graphic Studio is composed of the Art Director and the Editorial Manager. Both have decades of experience in the world of art editing (Skira, Electa Mondadori, Charta, and Edizioni Gabriele Mazzotta). In addition there is a graphic designer and three Italian editors, including one who is bilingual in Italian and French. They are supported by external editors and translators of Italian and other languages (British and American English, German, and French).
The photolithography operation includes a Crosfield drum scanner and three AGFA flatbed scanners to accommodate color photography, layouts, and printed books.
Fratelli Colombo S.r.l. manages the digital offset printing. To better serve the photolithography department and ensure an even greater attention to quality, they are among the few in the business to have two printing presses for proofing of 70 x 100 cm prints. With this equipment they can print with special colors (Pantone, silver, gold, and varnish), and print posters for display and packaging (offset and digital printing).
